The rubber dust boot on the steering gear generally has three places:

First, between the steering gear and the car body and the floor, the dust boot here generally plays the role of shock absorption, noise reduction and dust prevention;

The second is the part connecting the end of the steering wheel tie rod and the wheel rocker arm, which is in the shape of a leather cup.

The rubber dust boot here is filled with grease to prevent atmospheric dust from entering the ball pin housing and storing grease;

Third, on the steering gear, one end is fixed on the cylinder barrel of the steering gear with a tie, and the other end is fixed on the tie rod with a metal clip. This dust jacket is mainly used to prevent mud, oil and dust from entering the steering gear, causing heavy steering and failure.

The dust jacket is cracked, dust and sediment will enter the internal bearing, and there is a lot of lubricating oil on the bearing surface. These dust and sediment will enter the bearing together with the lubricating oil, causing the bearing to be scrapped in advance, so once the dust jacket is damaged, replace it as soon as possible
